Description
Summary:Knowledge sharing is an activity through which 'knowledge', namely information, experience, skills, or expertise is exchanged between at least two people. Knowledge sharing practice is an important tool in knowledge management. This is because knowledge management is about getting the right knowledge to the right people at the right time. Nowadays, issues on knowledge sharing are typically discussed from organizational perspectives mostly by non-Muslim scholars. This study attempts to discuss and examine knowledge sharing from the perspective of Muslim scholars, by looking at the current state, issues and challenges, and the role of knowledge sharing practice towards human development as perceived by the Malay Muslim scholars in Malaysia. Three Malay Muslim scholars in Malaysia from different fields of expertise had been selected to participate in this study, they are Prof. Dr. Dato' Mahmood Zuhdi bin Abdul Majid, Dato' Syeikh Muhammad Fuad bin Kamaludin and Prof. Dr. Dato' Mohammad bin Abu Bakar. This study adopted the qualitative research methodology where the researcher applied two methods of data collection; library research and semi-structured interviews with the three scholars. This study concludes with a number of findings. There are additional spiritual elements mentioned by the participants in viewing knowledge sharing. Furthermore, issues such as type of knowledge, condition of knowledge receiver, environmental and individual psychological state are highlighted as issues and challenges in knowledge sharing. However, the issues and challenges of knowledge sharing are discussed from the perspective of Islam. The selected scholars also perceived knowledge sharing as the main agent in human development.
