520 |a The study adresses idiomatic phrases and the methods of teaching them in the schools of Selangor Darul Ehsan. The objective of this study is to investigate students’ knowledge in selected schools in idiomatic phrases and to find out the methods of teaching them. The research uses literature review from books, magazines to find out the information. Other than literature review, the research also uses interview with a JAIS official, i.e. Ustaz Muhammad Jaafar bin Qomari. Surveys were carried out at three primary religious schools under the Selangor Department of Islamic Affairs – JAIS, i.e. Sekolah Rendah Agama Kampung Sungai Tua Bharu, Sekolah Rendah Agama (Integrasi) Sungai Chinchin, and Sekolah Rendah Agama Taman Permata. The survey involved 180 students of Standard Six. The reseacher has found in this study that Arabic language syllabus under the JAIS is focused on Arabic language grammar and most of the students in school chose the right phrases. The reseacher suggests the teacher has to use the current language teaching methodologies and technologies and also the Arabic language syllabus designer has to design an idiomatic’s dictionary to primary school’s students.
