| الملخص: | The study contrasted the Arabic with Malay languages at the level of conjunctive phrases with special attention on its structure, semantics and functions, and identifies areas of similarities and differences between the two languages. The study used the method of contrastive linguistic analysis which calls for a description of the conjunctive phrases in both languages. The study found a number of differences which are due to the difference in the grammatical elements of the type of conjunctive phrases from the aspect of structure, semantics and functions in normal sentence uses. The study also analyzed the difficulties facing learners of Arabic language among Malay speakers both in terms of conceptual knowledge and actual use. Finally, the study made some recommendations which will help designers of curriculum in teaching Arabic to Malay speakers to overcome those difficulties. |
