Summary:This study has investigated the use of electronic database among Postgraduate students in King AbdulAziz University library, Saudi Arabia. The main objectives of the study were (i) to determine whether the selected commercial electronic databases made available by King AbdulAziz University library are actually being utilised by the postgraduate students (ii) to understand how usable students find the existing electronic databases (iii) to determine whether the level of usage among the students justify the costs of renewing the subscriptions of the electronic databases. The study has also addressed the perception of end-users in order to provide an overall picture of the students' attitudes, perception towards electronic resources in Saudi University libraries. The data was collected using survey research method; the population of the study comprised all the students in the faculty of science, engineering and social sciences. Questionnaires were the only instrument distributed to the sampled of the students. Descriptive Statistic method was employed to analyse the data collected. Findings from the study showed that majority of respondents were considered to be intermediate users in using the electronic databases. The findings also indicated large numbers of postgraduate students in King AbdulAziz University were satisfied with the electronic databases provided in their library. In addition, the study found the following barriers that hindered the effective access and utilisation of electronic databases among postgraduate students in King AbdulAziz University to include lack of trained staff; language proficiency and availability of full text option. The study therefore, recommended that King AbdulAziz University should develop and improve its electronic database by subscribing to electronic journals that provide full text options and conduct user study programs to know more about electronic information needs of the users.
