Description
Summary:This study aims at examining the effect of the Isra’iliyyat narrations in Sri Lankan Admonition Literature by critically appraising the Isra’iliyyat narrations prevalent in “Nabi Markal Waralaru” (Prophets’ Stories). The meaning of Isra’iliyyat, their diffusions, the types and laws of narrating them are presented. In addition, the study focuses on the objectives, methods, sources and importance of Islamic Admonition in the field of tarbiyyah and how the Isra’iliyyat narrations has penetrated the prophet's stories which are extremely influential tools for Islamic Admonition. To find out the effect of the Isra’iliyyat on the “Naba Markal Waralaru”, an inductive method is used while an analytical method evaluates the narrations pertinent to Isra’iliyyat. The treatise reached that the influence of the Isra’iliyyat started in the Sri Lanka Muslim community by means of translation of Islamic books, particularly prophets’ stories. The “Nabi Markal Waralaru” is very much influenced by the Isra’iliyyat narrations especially false and fabricated narrations which were considered as enormously harmful to Islamic thought and faith. Therefore, this research would analyze and assess the impact of these narrations upon Muslims in Sri Lanka and proposes possible ways in dealing with these stories.
