Summary: | This research is a comparative study on the doctrine of retribution (reward and punishment) between Islam and Hinduism. The research methodology of this work is historical and textual analyse and comparison of beliefs. This research is relying on resources from the library such as books, journals, magazines, research papers and other publications. This research attempts to analyse the importance of this doctrine in the life of Muslims and Hindus, and how it affects their life. It discusses further, the inter-relationship of some religious doctrines (e.g. al-Qada' and al-Qadar and al-Kasb or acquisition in Islam, and Karma, Samsara, class stratification and Moksa in Hinduism) with the doctrine of retribution. Finally, this research studies the similarities and differences in the doctrine of retribution in Islam and Hinduism. As for the significance of the study, a comparative study between the belief of reward and punishment in Islam and Hinduism gives real knowledge of these two religions, and is beneficial to Muslims in dealing with others in the context of controversy, debate and inter-religion dialogue. In summary, we can conclude that the doctrine of retribution that avails itself in religions has had its positive impact on all of the believers. It causes them to strive for goodness to gain self, families and others satisfaction. On the other hand, it causes them to strive away from the unlawful acts that harm them, their parents and others. |
