Summary:The research presented the study of Arabic Language syllabus adopted and followed in teaching of the Arabic Language at the pre-school under the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM Educare). The methodology employed in this study was an analytical analysis. The study aims to evaluate the syllabus for teaching Arabic in the pre-school so it conforms to the objectives of the pre-school and suit the age of the non-Arabic speaking children; as well as to determine the basis and the best guidelines and practices to develop a syllabus for teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speaking children. Based on these guidelines, the syllabus of Arabic language used at the IIUM pre-school was analysed with the intention of giving suggestions and recommendations to improve and develop it further. An interview with experts specialized in the field of teaching Arabic to non- Arabic speaking and teachers at the IIUM kindergarten were carried out. The most important findings of the field study are as follow: objectives of the syllabus used did not meet the requirements of teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speaking; the content of the syllabus were not inclusive and incapable of realizing the objectives, the access to modern teaching method or technology such as video, cassette, computer and others were not available and the teachers at the pre-school were not well trained and not fully qualified to teach Arabic. In order to overcome these problems, the study suggests that the syllabus of Arabic Language at the pre-school to be revised from all aspects, including the outlining of the objectives and contents, the teaching method and the assessment method in order to improve the practice of teaching Arabic at the pre-school.
