Summary: | This study intends to uncover the problems of machine translation and its difficulties
in dealing with synonyms, idiom, rhetoric, suffix and prefix, matching between the
components of sentences, and differences between literal, semantic and
communicative translation requirements. Theoretical part of the study presents the
history of machine translation and the processes of translation in machine translator
and its difficulties in translating the texts. This is to establish that machine translation
can never imply total transfer of meaning by itself but it needs help from human
translator to do this job. Practical part of the study focuses on the analysis of some
sentences, using machine translation as the translator which are divided into three
levels (easy, medium, and advance) in order to point out the aspect of machine
translation’s inability in dealing with grammar, morphological, dictation, and
semantic. Therefore, the study proves the inability and faults in the machine
translation software from the grammatical, morphological, semantic, and dictation
sides. It also proves the needs of machine translator from human translator in the
production of the good, quality, and acceptable translation. |
