Summary: | This study intends to examine a Quranic linguistic phenomenon related to the
differences of the ten common Quranic readings in morphological (nominal and
verbal) forms. It explains connection between the morphological forms and functional
meanings as well as the related lexical and social meanings. The study analyzes types
of morphological forms in the Quranic readings and explains effects of their
differences on the meaning of the Quranic verses, especially the verses that are related
to aspects of faith, jurisprudence and ethics, as well as general purpose of the Qur’ān.
The researcher adopts the inductive methodology to explore the differences of
morphological forms in the ten common Quranic readings, and the analytical
methodology to establish the connection between morphological forms and aspects of
faith, jurisprudence and ethics. The study concludes that the differences of
morphological forms in the Quranic readings lead to different functional meanings,
but do not imply contradiction of meanings. Thus the researcher would like to confirm
that the ten common Quranic readings are rich language corpus to study
morphological forms, and recommend that integration of traditional and modern
analysis will help to develop Arabic morphology. |
