| الملخص: | This field research aims at revealing the deficiencies and difficulties that impede learning and
teaching of Arabic language in the Islamic College, Jala, Southern Thailand. This is carried
out by focusing on the demonstrated benefits of the College. To realize this aim, the
researcher made use of the analytical descriptive method, which focuses on description, and
analysis of the celebrated achievements, difficulties and problems through collection of
related data and administration of an appropriate questionnaire. The field study was limited,
by the researcher, to a fifteen sample figures among the teachers and 85 students. The
research ended in different outcomes, among others, first: The study is hoped to be able to
prepare a sincere Muslim generation who is capable of delivering an Islamic message and
actualizing the needs of the society, as well as capable of facing contemporary trends.
Second: the Thai Government recognized the college’s certificates and gave its graduates
same privileges as others in terms of job opportunities. Third: the study found that students’
interests in the study of Arabic language increased due their understanding that the language
is urgently needed for understanding of the Quran, prophetic Hadiths and different Islamic
Sciences. However, it is also found that there are some difficulties and problems of the
college are in the study of Arabic Language. Among others are Fist: the curriculum of some
subjects in the Arabic Language Department needs to be reviewed in order to gauge the
extent of its suitability and effectiveness. Second: Students are compelled to memorize
extensive vocabularies and translate them is a mother tongue, in the course of training, and
this has contributed to the students' notable weakness in conversation or speech making in
Arabic language. Considering those difficulties and problems, the researcher proposed some
suggestions towards improvement of Arabic language in Southern Thailand in general and in
the Islamic College in particular. |
