Description
Summary:The developments in distributed systems, real-time and mobility technology provide us with the possibility to have wide-ranging and continual access to computing resources in a variety of contexts. These technological changes make increasing demands on the quality of the user interface and offer the potential to further progress the functionality of computing devices. Thus, this thesis considers the aspects of those technologies to be integrated in the medical and emergency system. Many parts of current Malaysian medical information systems and emergency systems are still paper-based, stand-alone system and do not fully utilize the Internet and the latest capability of real-time multimedia and wireless technology. The thesis is to develop an intelligent agent-based medical information and emergency (IAEM) model that can overcome many of the problems in current system. This model can offer: SMS, MMS, live audio and video coverage of emergency situations, location-based access to emergency situation, wide area coverage, and provides flexibility for the user. The IAEM model had been designed to integrate both the emergency and medical information system using the Internet and latest capability of real-time, multimedia and mobility technology. Prototype had been also implemented for both the webbased and mobility model. As with the web-model, the summary of the patient's past medical record could be retrieved. Thus with IAEM model, any emergency service, can have instant access to all your emergency information such as emergency contacts, existing conditions, allergies, and medications. This will ensure all parties to avoid the dangerous duplication of medications and other kinds of errors associated with incomplete information. Beside, the model can be used to search the nearest location of the health care centers based on the user specified input.
