Description
Summary:This study aims to assemble 74 traditions of the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) cited in the first volume of the book Bada'i al-Zuhur by Shaykh Wan Ahmad bin Muhammad Zayn alFataniy (may Allah Ta'ala have mercy on him) and analyse them from the narrative and contextual perspectives. This is because the author did not mention their narrators nor explain their status; thus the researcher intends to investigate the traditions' narrators initially, trace their references and furtherance, and later confer their status to the verdict of previous authoritative figures of Hadith. This study also outlines Shaykh Wan Ahmad's academic and social background, as well as the methodology of the book and its contents. The researcher exercises two methods in this study. Firstly, through inductional approach, he summarizes Shaykh Wan Ahmad's biography and the methodology of his book, and brings together the traditions cited in it. Secondly, through accreditational analysis, the researcher performs Takhrij to the traditions in the book and their status, and then explains their conditions, whether acceptable or rejected. The findings of the study indicate the following: Shaykh Wan AÍmad alFataniy was a qualified Islamic scholar and a talented writer who dedicated his entire life for the sake of Allah Ta'ala and has left many books on assorted Islamic sciences both in Malay and Arabic. He wrote the book Bada'i al-Zuhur based on various Tasawwuf references. In conjunction with the statistical overview of the traditions' conditions, the following percentages are ascertained; acceptable traditions with 54.06%, rejected traditions with 28.38% and traditions whose status cannot be traced with 17.57%.
