520 |a This study aims to analyze and evaluate the teaching curriculum of an Arabic language text book at the first level of senior high school in Indonesia, whether the objectives of the curriculum in the book are equivalent to the guidelines proposed by the Ministry of Religion at the year 2008. The researcher attempts to evaluate the book based on linguistic and cultural content approach. In order to carry aout that evaluation, the researcher adopts some theoretical methodologies which analyse firstly, a second language text book for non-native speakers by Rushdi Tu‛aymah, secondly, the teaching curriculum for elementary level by the Ministry of Education of Indonesia, thirdly the curriculum proposed by the Ministry of Religion of Indonesia. Finally, in producing an evaluation of the curriculum, the researcher distributes a questionnaire to some Arabic language teachers. In conclusion, the researcher believes that the Arabic language text book at the first senior high school level in Indonesia needs to be developed and upgraded in terms of linguistic used and Arabic Islamic culture approach.
