總結:The study discusses the use of the Internet by Malaysian opposition parties during the 2008 Malaysian general election. It begins with a brief discussion on the background and performance of the main opposition parties in Malaysia which are Parti Islam Se- Malaysia (PAS), Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). It continues with a discussion on the rationale of the opposition coalition to use the cyberspace as one of their platforms to reach voters in the Malaysian 12th general election campaign. It explains the way their websites are structured and the articles posted. In addition this study also discusses the emergence of independent websites such as Malaysiakini and Malaysia Today which were believed to have given credit to the opposition coalition in disseminating information to the voters. Besides, this study also provides a content comparison between opposition parties and independent websites, blogs and the mainstream media based on four highlighted issues which are the allegation against Anwar Ibrahim, the “Bersih event”, the murder of Altantuya Sharibu and the “Hindraf” rally. This study suggests that the opposition parties and independent websites do provide more information about the issues compared to mainstream media.
