520 |a This study aims to review the requirements in translating metaphorical connotations and highlight their mutual relationship with the methods of translations. It also aims to investigate the similarities and differences in the methods of translations taken by Malay Muslim translators in translating Quranic metaphorical connotations with a proposal of the alternative translation method in order to reach the correct connotation to the extent that is nearly what it is in the original Arabic text. To achieve these goals, this study relies on descriptive method to demonstrate the concept of metaphorical connotation, its dimensions and issues in translation and the requirements of translating it. The study also follows analytical approach by choosing 121 models of Quranic metaphorical appearances namely metaphor, sent metaphor and metonymy on the levels of different linguistic units including verbal, expressive and sentence levels. Next to that, the study is based on a comparative approach where the selected copies are those translated by Mahmoud Younis , Abdullah Basmeh and Haj Zinni Dahalan .The researcher reached in this study to a set of results, the first is the need to take into account the context, cultural differences and the verbal correlation in translating metaphorical connotations as they all have a role in determining the linguistic parity, as well as they all help the translator to choose what it deems appropriate to solve the semantic problems in translation. The second is that there are positions in which all translators agreed on the same method of translation in translating Quranic metaphorical connotations, and there are places in which two translators only resemble, whereas there are places in which translators contrast . This confirms that it is not reliable to depend on one absolute method of translation in translating Quranic metaphorical connotations, but the translator has multiple choices of methods of translations. The third that the reader preferably must not rely on just one copy because of the likelihood of bugs and decreases in the delivery of the intended meaning in the target language, but he must compare between the different translations realize the intended meaning of the Quranic message.
