Description
Summary:This research aims at studying some contemporary social diseases faced by societies, and providing solutions to them in the light of Surat al-Hujurat. The methods used in this study are inductive and analytical methods, keeping track of the verses of Surat al-Hujurat based on the opinions of classical and contemporary scholars of Tasfir Al-Quran in order to reach the principles that could be used to eradicate or minimize these social diseases. The study found that some contemporary Muslim societies have been affected by new social diseases which had not existed at the time when the Qur'an was revealed. These included intellectual vanity in the denial of Authentic Sunnah. In addition, other diseases are committed by social networking users including cynicism and scorn of others, exposing people's sins by spying on their movements, distracting their dignity, jealousy, and stirring conflicts in Muslim societies. Moreover, the study demonstrates that Surat al-Hujurat portrays an ideal approach in curing these contemporary social diseases faced by societies; it calls upon Muslims not to present their views before the opinion of the Prophet of Allah, especially with regards to the Islamic Sharia. The Surat also establishes principles of respecting others, and eliminating the differences between people except in piety. When Muslim communities adhere to these ethical principles declared in Surat al-Hujurat, they will have a better life and will be far from the social diseases that have surfaced in this contemporary era and achieve stability, progress and prosperity.
