Summary:This research aims to detect common mistakes made by two groups of Malay students at the International Islamic University Malaysia, IIUM while reciting of the Holy Qur'an. The researcher focused on errors in the distinctive quality and improved characters. These errors were analysed by using the latest speech processing computer programs. The participants were chosen among Malay students at the International Islamic University in the state of Gombak Malaysia for the academic year 2015/2016 and some experts from Malaysia and abroad. As the sample of the study, ten students were selected in convenience sampling and divided into two groups; the first group consisted of five students specializing in the Arabic language, and the second group was made up of five students who were not specialists in the Arabic language. Then, the researcher chose four experts; three experts from Arab countries, and one an expert from Malaysia. They were selected based on their experience in the field of phonetic, tajweed and Qur'anic study. For the purpose of gathering information, this study used the computer software cool edit pro and speech filling system for recording and identify errors in the recitation of the Holy Qur'an. The researcher chose some juzuk 'amma as the subject of this study. The results of this study demonstrate the agreement and disagreement among the experts about the right and wrong of the recitation of the Qur'an by students in the two groups, which is reaching an average value of the agreement (33) and (30), and the value of the average errors of (43) and (46) each. It was also found that there was no difference in the statistical significance of these two groups. Meanwhile, for the results on the errors in the quality of the letters, there were statistically significant differences in character ha (ح) and dho (ض) with the value (0.015) and (0.044) each. In light of the findings of the study results, the researcher suggests a number of recommendations and proposals at the conclusion of the search
