Description
Summary:Ustaz Abdul Majid Daryabadi is well-known among prominent scholars in India in the twentieth century. He has made great contributions in various sectors of knowledge; many people have benefitted from him in different fields, such as literature, Tafsir, etc. His greatest achievement is the Tafsir of the Holy Qur'an in Urdu language known as 'Tafsir-e-Majidi'. This Tafsir is well-known among Urdu speaking masses and scholars for its easy language and for gathering different kinds of knowledge in one book. This research aims to clarify the method of Ustaz Daryabadi in his Tafsir. Two methods had been used: inductive method and analytical method. His general method has been described as Tafsir al-mathur and explanation has been done on jurisprudential issues. The analyses include his point of view regarding the narrations of people of the book, the issues of Ilm al-kalam, citations from scientists and answers to anti-Islamic scholars. When Ustaz Daryabadi made a commentary of a verse from the Holy Qur'an, he brought Al-mathur narrations or jurisprudential issues according to needs. In addition, he combined in the commentary of some verses between his general method and his special method considering the topics.
