Description
Summary:This study proposes exposition to the meaning of al-Din and al-Tadayyun in the Qur'an through its particular styles and methods applied for the purpose. Al-Din is the natural reality Allah SWT embedded in the human nature, as it was necessary for comprehensive welfare of man as an individual and society. Muslim scholars without any exception hence the entire Muslim ummah are unanimous over the fact that any human act based on anything other than the Qur'anic concept of al-Din carries no weight in the eyes of Allah. The Qur'an calls man to al-Din in many ways particularly through attracting attention towards the natural and human phenomena which serve as the sources of understanding the message that the Power of Allah is unfathomable. As for the word al-Tadayyun, it signifies implementation of all the commands, precepts, and conditions mentioned in the Qur'an under al-Din. Since al-Tadayyun is human performance, there is always a possibility of extremism, either too little or too much. The Qur'an prohibits both the extremes, and suggests the middle path in practical manifestation of Islamic life (al-Tadayyun). This research reached the conclusion that the al-Din sent by Allah through all of His Prophets and Messengers has always been one and the same. What appears in the human world in the name of variations in religions is but humanly corrupted form of religion. It is Islam alone which represents the original message of Allah and that is al-Din. That is why the practical manifestation (al-Tadayyun) must be exactly in line with al-Din which is free from any kind of inordinate and excessive actions and reactions. The methodology applied in the research is mainly analytical.
