Then, with the signing of the Land Border Treaty, it strengthens their relations even further. Since both countries have different sizes, population and economic capacity, Brantly Womack's (2006) asymmetry theory is used in explaining this relationship. This theory is suitable in discussing the relations between a strong country (China) and a weak country (Vietnam). In addition to that, document analysis was applied in this study. The government's online websites, online journals and books are utilised properly. In conclusion, the efforts by leaders from both countries to achieve a stable political environment and to resolve their disputes in an amicable manner have resulted in economic and social progress in their countries.
