Description
Summary:Imam al-Tirmidhi is one of them who is followed in the field of al-hadith and its sciences. He also one of the retainers who has contribution in the field of impugnment and validation of al-hadith' narrators. Therefore, the scholars of al-hadith gave value for his assessment. We can find his book (Jami') as a main source for impugnment and validation (al-jarh wa al-ta'dil) of al-hadith' narrators according to his own assessment. However, researcher did not get anyone who converged Tirmidhi' remarks. Consequently, in this thesis researcher has studied Tirmidhi's "Jami'" inductively in order to gather his assessments about narrators. At the end of this research it became as like a lexicon of al-hadith that includes reliable and unreliable of narrators by Tirmidhi's comment in his "Jami'". This research has arranged as following order. Firstly, it covers all narrators' names who are validated and impugned by Tirmidhi according to alphabetical Arabic order. Secondly, keeping all words which are used for measuring narrator's stage with brief explanation. Thirdly, arranging these words that are used for assessing narrators from the beginning of Imam ibn abi Hatim al-Razi until Imam al-Sakhawii with their diverse observations. Finally, gathering some comments of al-hadith' scholars about narrators who are validated and impugned by Tirmidhi from the angle of acceptance (al-qabul) and rejection (al-radd). This is the main purpose from this study which enclosed most of the research and came up with valuable data for the students of al-hadith, along with this, research incorporates the life of the Imam al-Tirmidhi. It highlights something about his scholarly life and his experience into al-jarh wa al-ta'dil, and the remarkable rank of his al- Jami' among another books of Sunnah. It is going to discourse on this concept: "do not rely on his purification for hadith". The researcher came up with some conclusions that he found after searching and deep study in the “Jami' al-Tirmidhi". The most important outcome is that this book contains one hundred and thirty one (131) reliable narrators and one hundred and fifty-eight (158) unreliable narrators after eliminating replications. Also, his “Jami'” is the third position in the six books of al-hadith. Moreover, this view: "do not rely on his purification for al-hadith” is not satisfactory from its narrator. The Scholars of al-hadith rely on the opinion of Imam al-Tirmidhi.
