The participants were four young girls who had experience with premarital pregnancy as a result of voluntary premarital sex. The participants ranged from 16 to 24 years old, living in urban areas in Malaysia. There are two objectives of the research which are firstly to explore the experiences of young people who become pregnant as a result of being involved in voluntary premarital sex and secondly to see the possible options explored by unmarried pregnant girls upon the discovery of their pregnancy. The research is a qualitative study that used semi-structured interviews in collecting the data. The findings of the research showed that most girls were involved in voluntary premarital sex and pregnancy because of romantic love relationship. Besides that, the unmarried pregnant girls may also experience the negative implications in terms of physical health, psychological health, behavioural and socio-economic stability. The research also found that abortion is the first option that the girls considered after discovering their pregnancy. The useful recommendations to encounter the problems of premarital pregnancy have also been included in the last chapter of the research. | ||
