520 |a In the present study, the relationship between work stress and driving anger expression is examined. In addition, the role of general anger as a mediator in the relationship between work stress and driving anger expression is also investigated. A total of 126 full – time professional and semi – professional employees, who drive daily/regularly from home to workplace in the Klang Valley, have participated in the study and responded to measures of demographic information, work stress (Effort – Reward Imbalance Scale), general anger (Trait Anger Scale) and driving anger expression (Driving Anger Expression Inventory). After controlling for demographic variables, results of the hierarchical regression analyses show that reward, one of the two measures of work stress (another measure is effort), predicted driving anger expression; lack of reward received by employees is positively related to driving anger expression. Results also show that general anger fully mediated the relationship between reward and driving anger expression. However, effort is not found to significantly relate to driving anger expression. Results of the present study and its implications on the well – being of employees, organizations and drivers are discussed.
