In addition, it also explores the relationship between teachers' participation in the decision-making process in school and their morale. The sample consisted of 253 teachers form 16 selected Tamil primary schools in the state of Johore. The simple random cluster sampling technique was employed to select these schools from a complete list of Tamil primary schoolls in Johore. The majority of the teachers surveyed were female, constituting 58% of the total sample. In terms of formal training, 79.1% of them had undergone formal training in teacher training colleges. Two questionnaires were administered. The Teachers' Participation in Decision-Making Process Questionnaire (PDMQ), was used to measure the teachers' current and desired participation in five decisional areas - curriculum and instruction, student related issues, staff related issues, financial issues, and general administration. The Staff Morale Questionnaire (SMQ) was used to measure the teachers' morale on three dimensions - cohesive pride, personal challenge, and leadership synergy. Four hypotheses were postulated in this study. The study found that there exists a significant positive correlation between teachers' current participation in the decision-making process and their morale for the dimensions of personal challenge and leadership synergy. However, the relationship between teaachers' participation in decision-making and their morale for the dimension of cohesive pride is not significant.
