Description
Summary:This study aims to highlight the efforts of Omani scholars in the interpretation of the Qur'an and Qur'an Sciences from the 12th to the 14th century Hijri, through their different publications, whether dedicated and independent works. The researcher used the inductive, historical and analytical approaches to examine Oman scholars' opinions on some Holy Qur'an sciences during the aforementioned period. The researcher found that a number of Omani scholars had very important rols in the service of the Holy Qur'an, especially Al Kindi and Al Khalili. These two scholars followed the original approach of interpreting the Qur'an in view of the Prophet's sayings and by utilizing the sciences of Arabic language in formulating their opinions. Their works were not merely copying their predecessors, but in many cases, they compared opinions and selected the best. They utilized the sayings of the Sunnah of the great Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), indicating the extent of acceptability of each saying. They also took the opinions of scholars from other Islamic sects and formulated their own strong opinions when they saw fit. In Qur'an Sciences, the research reveals that Omani scholars gave a lot of effort to shed light on the sciences related to the Qur'an. This was evident in their independent work like “Uqood Al-Aqqyan fi thiker Shain min Mabahith Al Quran” by Abdullah bin Saif Al Kindi, which is considered an encyclopedic reference, in a poetic mould, for a huge number of sciences related to Qur'an Sciences. He used Qur'anic verses, the Prophet's sayings and opinions of other scholars as a foundation for his writing approach. The research also reveal that there were about 14 other encyclopedic work related to Qur'an Sciences during the period under study.
