| 520 | |u There are numerous machine-translation systems and software; some can be accessed for free through the Internet while some are commercially found particularly those used by professional translators. But these systems and software do not produce good or high quality translations because of the large number of linguistic errors that impair the meaning and hinder the comprehensibility of the translated document. In order to determine the capability of machine translation systems in translating full texts, the researcher conducted this research on machine-translation systems to identify its inception and development, approaches, and the process of automatic translation. The research also includes the translation of eight selected texts through two systems named "Google" and "Ajeeb", the analysis of linguistic errors contained in the translated texts, and the comparison between the translations of the two systems. The findings of the research indicate that there is a need to combine two or more of the methods used to build machine translation systems in order to get the best system and to enhance their performance. The causes of errors in the translation of the two systems "Google" and "Ajeeb" include: the adoption of direct translation, lack of software that helps to determine the area of text to be translated, the differences between Arabic and English in syntax, and lack of computer terminologies in their dictionaries. | ||
