520 |a This study examines and analyzes Malaysia-Bangladesh Relaltions from 1981 to 1997. It adopts descriptive, analytical and historical methods. It analyzes the origin of the relationship, discusses its developent during the period under review and evaluates its importance for the welfare of the Ummah as a whole. The study found that the relationship between the two countries has assumed a multifaceted and multidimensional character. Their interaction has been deeply diverse and varied in nature and it has served the interest of both ountries. Both recognize and attach tremendous importance to the growing relationship in upholding the interest of regional integration in general and Islamic brotherhood in particular. Two basic elements inherent in their relations have been the religious bond and regional co-operation. The relationship in the political field between the two contries is marked by cordiality, understanding and co-opeeration. Likewise as with political co-operation, the two countries have maintained cordial friendly relations in socio-economic and cultural fields. This example of the growing interrelationships between Malaysia and Bangladesh shows that similar relations between and among other Muslim countries could be beneficial for the greater unity of the Ummah.
