Mediating role of affective commitment between the relationship of all dimensions of job burnout and turnover intention is also explored in this study. The research was conducted among full-time lecturers working in various private Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) in Klang Valley, Malaysia. A standardized questionnaire which includes the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey, a Turnover Intention Scale by Kelloway, Gottlieb and Barham and an Affective Commitment Scale by Allen and Meyer was used to measure the level of organisational burnout, turnover intention and affective commitment among respondents respectively. The study found Emotional Exhaustion and Depersonalisation to have significant effects on lecturers' turnover intention and results also signifies that affective commitment mediates the relationship between Emotional Exhaustion and turnover intention among lecturers of the respective private HLIs. Findings of the study provide strong implications for the private HLI management to have careful insight about the attitudinal and behavioral problems of their lecturers. The limitations and future area of research are also discussed in the study.
