Description
Summary:This thesis is study on the “A Hadith-based Thematic Study of Islamic Dress for Malaysian Muslim Women as a Case Study” utilizing inductive research methodology and analytical methods. Early Muhaddithun and Hadith commentators and jurists have discussed in general, the Islamic dress code for Muslim women. Subsequently, the researcher has benefited from their views in referring to Malaysian Muslim women. Across time, much of the Islamic attire for Malaysian Women has combined both Islamic and contemporary fashion, although there is a small number of Malaysian women who still adhere to the guidelines of Islamic dress code. The variety of this fashion confuses the public regarding what constitutes Islamic attire and contemporary fashion among Malaysian Muslim women. In order to clarify this issue, the researcher tries to define the definition of Islamic dress code and its legality evidence, the importance of attire among Muslim women and the suspicions on the attire issue. The study tries to explore its development among Malaysian Muslim women, its purposes, the types of Malaysian Women attire, then to explain guidelines of Islamic Dress code for Malaysian Muslim women. Besides, the researcher studies takhrij and semantics from selected Hadith related to women's attire and its consequences. The researcher concludes that the issue on the Islamic attire is an honourable one in the Eye's of Allah (Libas taqwa) and it is the right preference. It is necessary to come together with the following requirements: proper dress that cover the entire body, although the face and hands may be exposed, in terms of thickness, it should not be transparent as to reveal the colour of a woman's skin or to expose the hair or body in any way, as for looseness, the shape of the woman should not be outlined by her dress. Furthermore, the attire should not be similar to that of men, and the design must not consist of tool attractive patterns. Finally, the designs should not imitate those of non-Muslims' clothings
