| Summary: | This research aims to study the additional notes of Abu Hayyan Al-Andaloussi's work An-Nahru Al-Mad which is a summary of his larger work of tafsir (exegesis of the Quran) Al-Bahru Al-Muhit. Many failed to pay attention to these additions that Abu Hayyan did not mention in his original tafsir Al-Bahr, but after a through inspection were highlighted, which made those additions relatively unknown in academic circles. The aims of this research are to collect and list those additions and analyze them analytically by collecting scholarly views among the mufassirun, the jurists, and the linguists, whether in accordance with Abu Hayyan's views or not, and then deliberating between any contrasting views to determine which view is more sound. The importance of those additions reside in their general and global aspects which the linguists had sought inspirations from. The researcher has followed two methodologies in this research: first an inductive approach gathering most of the additions found in two chapters of the Qur'an ("The Cow" and "Family of Imran") then reorganizing and coordinating them according to the verses in their respective chapters, followed by a second analytical approach that studies those additions from a tafsir perspective, determining their correctness or not, or from an angle of their importance and impact on the tafsir, and then deliberating between differing views if found. This research has achieved important outcomes, among which are that those additions that Abu-Hayyan promised in the introduction of An-Nahr though very few in number are priceless, and whoever wants to discover Abu Hayyan's tafsir needs to turn to his summarized version, An-Nahru Al-Mad. |
