Description
Summary:This study aims at investigating the reality of applying strategic planning at the Kuwaiti secondary stage (boys' and girls' schools) from the views of senior teachers and principals. The study tried to answer the following main question: What is the prospect of applying strategic planning at the secondary stage in public education in the State of Kuwait? The investigator used a descriptive analytical study. The designed questionnaire focused on four areas, (50) passages, and four open- ended questions. The questionnaire was distributed to the respondents in the second semester of the academic years 2015/2016. There were a total of 352 responses received out of the 411 questionnaires that were sent to principals and assistant principals, which represent 86% in average of the total responses. A Statistical package program for Social Sciences (SPSS) version XXII was used to analyze the data. In order to answer the research questions, the researcher used several statistical methods to process the data and/or transfer the data to quantity values. This was done to facilitate the analysis and the interpretation of the data. The questionnaire was designed according to the following processors: Calculating the arithmetic mean, the standard deviation, and using (Pearson coefficient). It also conducted reliability procedures using Cronback Alpha coefficient, and T-Test. This includes using single contrast analysis and Shavian Test, in case the differences were statistically significant as a complementary test. The study concludes that there were: 1. the lack of clarity of the concept of strategic planning among schools principals and assistant principals. 2. The weakness of the interest of the Ministry of Education in developing strategic planning skills among principals and assistant principals. The study recommends: 1. Organize regular training courses and workshops on the subject of strategic planning for principals and assistant principals on how to develop strategic plans. 2. Provide schools with database regarding the internal and external environment of the school to reach peaceful resolutions.
