Summary:Sex education has gained ample attention and interest from many institutions, particularly the academic ones, in various countries of the world. This study aims to find out to what extent the third year intermediate students know the necessary sexual concepts mooted in the Fiqh curriculum, and to what extent the wrong understanding of these concepts is common among those students. It also aims to examine the effect of teaching a proposed unit in sex education in the Fiqh curriculum on improving the students' achievement and correcting/rectifying their wrong understanding of selected sexual concepts. To achieve the study objectives, the quasi-experimental and analytical descriptive research designs were used. The researcher prepared a list of concepts in sex education, designed a proposed unit in sex education, and constructed a test to measure the students' achievement and another test to measure the conceptual changes. The results of study showed that first, the level of students' knowledge of the necessary sexual concepts in the Fiqh curriculum was poor/low before teaching them the proposed unit. Second, the students' level of wrong understanding of the necessary sexual concepts in the Fiqh curriculum was high before teaching them the proposed unit. Third, the t-test results revealed that there was á statistically significant difference in the third grade students' mean scores in the pre and post achievement tests of the selected concepts in sexual education at p= (0.05) in favor of the post-test, with a large effect size( Cohen's d= 0.42). Fourth, the t-test results also showed a statistically significant difference in the third grade students' mean scores in the pre and post tests of conceptual changes of the selected concepts in sexual education at p= (0.05) in favor of the post-test, with a large effect size (Cohen's d= 0.38. Accordingly, the researcher has recommended developing the objectives of certain school curricula in line with the necessary sexual concepts needed for the students from Islamic perspective, and infusing these concepts in different educational levels of the public education. The researcher has also recommended conducting training workshops to increase teachers' awareness on how to promote these concepts among students.
