Summary: | This research proposed a programme that could help to identify the contribution of studying poetic texts in improving the grammar of non-native Arabic learners/ students at the advanced level. In order to achieve this, the researcher investigated the needs of non-native Arabic language learners at the Noor Majan Training Institute in Oman using an Identification of needs. This study also involved curriculum and syllabus analysis in particular. The researcher also discussed the literature and previous studies conducted in the field of Arabic language curriculum for non-native Arabic learners, and in teaching of grammar in particular, as a theoretical research evidence necessary to understand the topic of this study. The literature review also discussed what has been written about the effectiveness of the poetic texts in teaching the language in general and teaching grammatical rules in particular in the past and modern times. All of this helped the researcher to construct a proposed programme, based on poetic texts and by reflecting the findings of previous studies, divided into separate units and arranged in accordance with the needs of learners. The aim was to help non-native Arabic language learners at the Noor Majan Institute for training to develop the skill of understanding grammatical rules of Arabic and to improve students' willingness to study grammatical rules, which is expected to reflect into better understanding of Arabic language, improved abilities to comprehend Arabic texts and more enabled students to gain lexicon and semantics skills. |
