Summary:In teaching profession, good quality teacher is a must for an outstanding academic performance among students. Therefore, characteristics of teachers are examined in this research. This research is aim to explore the principles of the characteristic of teachers based on Ibnu Jamaah guidelines from his work, The Listener And The Speaker In The Training Of Teacher And Student (Tazkirat Al-Sami' Wa Mutakallim Fi Adab' Al-Alim Wal Muta'alim). This research also will seek the compability between the present situations and Ibnu Jamaah guidelines. This study employed qualitative approach. The data collected through interviews and classroom observation. This study carried out in a Malaysia religious secondary schools in Kuala Selangor district. The study was involved five Islamic Education teachers. The study found that the characteristics of teachers as perceived that, teachers should have a good skill in teaching and learning as well as adopted the superlatives personalities particularly play vital roles to their students. Additionally, the comparisons of the characteristics of teachers with Ibnu Jamaah are seen and indicated that a slightly difference between all of the respondents
