| 520 | |a This research aims to examine the translation of Mohammed Talib and the translation of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Quran where Mohammed Talib claimed that the government's translation could be a source of misunderstandings of Indonesian Muslim towards their holy book, especially involving the possibility that the translation contains ideas of radicalism and terrorism. This research also attempts to investigate Mohammed Talib deals with the Quranic text involving the validity of his claim and his arguments. The study also highlights the extent to which both translations correspond to tafseer books. This research uitilizes a descriptive and analytical method by looking at the semantic and lexical studies. One of the most important results of this research is that the fundamental difference between two of the translations is found in the different understanding of the translators in the concept of translation itself; for Mohammed Talib it is something that must reflect all of the messages of the Quran, while translators of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs attempt to explain the meanings of all of the words of the source as they were intended. And one of the efforts of Mohammed Talib is to address the mistranslation of Indonesian Ministry of Religion Affairs is to insert the interpretations directly during translation. These interpretations are usually divided into three types: interpretation by himself, specific interpretations chosen from among the interpretations of authority interpreters and common interpretation. Therefore, there is no additional information like footnotes and the words in parenthesis in his translation, as in the translation of Indonesian Ministry of Religion Affairs. In addition, not every argument presented by Mohammed Talib in his critique toward the translation of Indonesian Ministry of Religion Affairs came from the interpretations of government interpreters; some came from his own opinion in order to be current with contemporary undertstanding. | ||
