520 |a This study examined the understanding of teachers and students about the role-play in teaching and learning Islamic education subjects. The study was conducted using interviews with Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The respondents were six teachers and twelve students in the last period of high school at the Bin Baz Islamic Centre. The findings of the study revealed that role-play method has a significant impact on the pedagogical process of teaching Islamic subjects. Students believed that role-play helps them as to understand the subject materials. The study also identified some obstacles and challenges during the implementation of the role-play method such as short time period, un-conducive classes, varying subject materials and inexpert teachers. Teachers believed that role-play method would be more effective if it is implemented with proper contents, tools, and a period of study and teachers and students readiness. As the implication of the study, some recommendations outlined as the continuation of the study in the same field for future research, and for the betterment of using role-play in the instruction of Islamic education subjects. It is suggested that teachers should apply to role-play method frequently during the tutoring session in the classroom to fulfil the purpose and objective of teaching. Moreover, the institutions have to allocate adequate time, opportunities and supporting tools for teachers to implement intensive role- play method in teaching and learning Islamic education subjects. Finally, all the informants acknowledged that they were interested and motivated on using the role-play in teaching and learning Islamic education.
