| Summary: | This study basically examines the issue of peaceful coexistence and methods of eliminating extremism in the Kurdish society. The underlying argument of the subject is that extremism is considered to be a serious threatening problem that challenges humanity throughout the world, particularly in such countries wherein religious, linguistic and national minorities extensively exist. Moreover, religious extremism is the strongest and most dangerous typical phenomenon that endangers modern societies and social coexistence therein, specifically inside Islamic countries. This ominous phenomenon of extremism is alienating people from Islam as a holistic worldview due to extremist behaviors, fanaticism, intolerance and bigotry. This study has been conducted in Kurdistan Region-Iraq as a practical case, on account that there are various religious, national, ethnic and sectarian beliefs which have been practiced over the centuries in Muslim community. Methodically, this research has adopted an inductive approach in extrapolating scientific materials; in addition to an analytical strategy to evaluate and investigate the basic concepts that constitute principal elements of the research. Also, research questions have been addressed through meticulously analyzing the Qur'anic texts and authentic Hadiths (Prophetic traditions) Also, a myriad of inspiring authentic historical accounts are discussed, which strongly emphasize the issue of coexistence in Islam. Furthermore, numerous field interviews have been carried out with a couple of prominent scholars and intellectuals among different religions. Finally, the researcher concluded that all religions affirm peacefulness in one way or another, in particular Islam. Additionally, assuming coexistence is the very unavoidable component for accomplishing happiness and harmoniousness of life. On the other hand, extremism leads to a complete destruction of all nations. |
