Description
Summary:Contemporary Arabic scholars have long debated on the issue of when Arabic grammar was first developed and invented, unfortunately without conclusion. Thus, the research aims to discuss the topic by conducting a comparative study on scholars' positions, pre and post period of Abu Aswad al-Duali. The linguistic argumentations on these three books, "al-Madaris al-Nahwiyyah" by Shawqi Daif, "al-Halaqah al-Mafqudah fi Tarikh al-Nahwiy al- 'Arabiy" by Abd 'Al Salim Mukram, and "Zahiratul I'irab fi al-Nahwiy al- 'Arabiy wa Tatbiquha fi al-Qur'an al-Karim" by Ahmad Sulayman Yaqut are examined comparatively. The research findings found that Arabic grammar was not influenced by any other linguistic thought as the "dot" or "nuqtah" on the Arabic syllables that was invented by Arabic scholars themselves.
