Summary:The dissertation joins a vibrant conversation in the method of teaching Arabic as A Second Language for kindergarteners as well as discussions on the role of play in language development among kindergarteners. It has been observed that private kindergartens in non-Middle East countries, which integrate the basic Islamic values, and practices in the academic curriculum, lack the method of teaching conversational Arabic. These results in kindergarteners missing the opportunity of mastering a second language. The research focuses on four major components; the importance of teaching Arabic to non-native kindergarteners, the role of play-based learning in second language acquisition, the criteria for selecting learning situations and simple Arabic sentences, proposed play-based application model using simple Arabic sentences. This dissertation aims to serve as a guideline for early childhood educators as well as parents, on implementing a play-based curriculum for simple Arabic sentences acquisition in kindergarteners.
