520 | |a The communication technological change that takes place in the university affects the well-being of academic staff members to adapt to the new technology. The academic staff members’ well-being is vital because it is affecting their performance at the workplace. Earlier studies also found that the new technology was affecting the academic staff members’ well-being. Therefore, this study analyses the effect of the communication technological change on the academic staff members’ well-being at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Gombak campus with Social Exchange Theory (SET) as the underlying theoretical framework. The study outlined the following objectives: (1) to identify the level of perception, attitude, and behavior of communication technological change, (2) to determine the level of academic staff members’ well-being at their workplace, communication technological change, and knowledge-sharing motive, (3) to analyse the relationship between the academic staff members’ well-being, communication technological change, and knowledge-sharing motive, and (4) to test the mediating effect of knowledge-sharing motive on the relationship between academic staff member’s well-being and the communication technological change at the workplace. This study employs a quantitative research design using the survey method. The questionnaire is used as the research instrument to collect the data. A total of 333 academic staff members participated in the study. The study opted for the stratified random sampling procedure where every kulliyyah is the stratum to ensure the representativeness of each kulliyyah. The results indicated that the level of perception, attitude, behavior, well-being, communication, technological change, and knowledge-sharing motive are all significant and positive. The correlation between well-being, communication, technological change, and knowledge-sharing motive are all significant and positive. The knowledge-sharing motive is found to fully mediate the relationship between well-being and the communication technological change. Therefore, the study contributes positively to the communication technological change towards the well-being of academic staff members at their workplace. Thus, the SET holds true for this study. | ||
