Currently, SME innovation models focusing on a firm’s knowledge base seem limited. The objective of this study is to develop a framework capturing how external knowledge sources, namely market-oriented and scientific-oriented knowledge sources and contribute to building intellectual capital and innovative capability in SMEs.
