Description
Summary:An emotion recognition system (ERS) was part of the technological advancement and emerged as one of the key technologies influencing individuals’ lives among societies. ERS was identified as one of the potential innovative solutions across various platforms, applications, and industries. Over the last two decades, artificial intelligence (AI) became one of the most important technological advancements, leading to the discovery of many innovative solutions. One of the key areas was the fourth industrial revolution (IR 4.0). IR 4.0 saw many industries integrate AI, which led to smart manufacturing, automated processes, blockchain, and more. With AI already recognized as an important technology globally, there were more innovative approaches being developed with AI, including ERS. ERS was a piece of technology that enabled AI capabilities to understand, recognize, and identify human emotions. The recent development of ERS embedded within AI significantly increased due to the rise of the fifth industrial revolution (IR 5.0). In IR 5.0, the major highlight was enabling human-computer interaction (HCI). Many innovative approaches developed for HCI were based on AI, and one significant technology that enabled HCI was ERS. Many previous studies over the last decade focused on developing suitable ERS for end-users. However, the readiness of users in adopting ERS was yet to be discovered. Hence, this study focused on the adoption and readiness of ERS among users. By identifying the factors that influenced users’ adoption and readiness for ERS, the study aimed to gain insight into whether individual users were ready to adopt ERS. Based on technology adoption studies, this study identified several key factors based on technology adoption theories and provided an outcome on whether users were ready to adopt ERS and if ERS could be part of technological advancements that would be useful for users.
