Summary:Cultural elements are the most essential factors that need to be emphasized on seating object’s design development for Malaysian public parks. This is against the literature review’s conclusion. Whereby, aesthetics were highlighted as the most important factor that needs to be considered in development of user preference products or system. A user preference survey among 200 Putra Perdana Park, Putrajaya’s visitors shows that seating object’s location also determines whether it is user preferable. Well-developed seating objects within public parks would provide comfort and may encouraged public to frequent these parks. However, here in Malaysia, public park’s seating objects attract little research interest. This resulted in lack of attention towards anthropometrics and user preference factors in designing. Hence, it has resulted in the design and development of unfavorable seating objects which induce stress to its users. A case study, involving qualitative and quantitative method has been used in investigating seating objects at Putra Perdana Park, Putrajaya which is expected to serve as reference for future Malaysian park’s design and development. Beside that a conceptual framework which focused on “user preferences” drawn from previous researches has been employed in the answer generation process for open-ended and close-ended research questions.
