Network lifetime preserving clustering schemes for wireless sensor networks

This thesis consists of two main parts. In the first part a detailed wireless sensor node model based on CC2430, a system-on-chip IEEE802.15.4 compliance wireless transceiver manufactured by Chipcon, is proposed. The accuracy of the proposed sensor node model is compared with some existing models by...

In the first part a detailed wireless sensor node model based on CC2430, a system-on-chip IEEE802.15.4 compliance wireless transceiver manufactured by Chipcon, is proposed. The accuracy of the proposed sensor node model is compared with some existing models by using process timing diagram and power consumption of a real sensor node. Besides that, the proposed model is evaluated using both direct and data aggregation communication patterns, two popular means of communications used in WSNs, for investigating the best communication pattern to be used in the design of routing algorithms for WSNs. The proposed model is also studied in terms of the impact of clock drift in Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) based WSNs. 2011-08 Thesis http://shdl.mmu.edu.my/5954/ http://library.mmu.edu.my/diglib/onlinedb/dig_lib.php masters Multimedia University Faculty of Engineering
