Social pressure Researchers believe that the fundamental variables for improving student learning and conceptual understand is motivation and attitude (Cavas, 2011). Motivation is an energetic phenomenon which plays an essential role for students to achieve their desired goals through dynamic decision making power and cognitive restructuring (Ullah et al., 2013). Crotty (2013) stated that well motivated students can likely achieve their targets, fulfill their satisfaction with school, lower their dropout rate, and show their better understanding of the concepts they are taught. On the other hand, unmotivated students are rather experiencing academic failure. Thus, it is apparently supporting that motivation can affect student’s achievement in school (Hardre´, et al., 2006). Unfortunately, an expression reveals that today’s critical problem in collage classroom is dealing with unmotivated and under-motivated, which students are disengaged from classroom learning or inattentive to schoolwork and this issue is the most disappointment that teachers have faced (LD online, 2013). However, every student has their own level of motivation; some students are enthusiastic about learning while other students are reluctant remains important (Halawah, 20122). Their motivational factors may also differ depending on situations and skills acquired by students. Thus, this paper determines factors influencing student motivation so students will be better facilitated to academic achievement, also it can assist the teachers for increasing the student’s motivation to learn. The factors that were indentified of having an influence on student academic motivation is teacher’s personality, teaching method, classroom climate, student- self perceived ability and parental involvement. 2015-02 Thesis http://shdl.mmu.edu.my/6219/ http://library.mmu.edu.my/diglib/onlinedb/dig_lib.php masters Multimedia University Graduate School of Management
