Linguistics Weblogs have been considered to possess one of the greatest pedagogical potentials, and this prompts language teachers to utilise this Web 2.0 technology to enhance their Generation Y students‟ language proficiency. However, the current literature still seems divided especially on its effectiveness as a learning tool. This case study aimed to examine the use of weblogs as a portal for language learning, with special attention to its ability to support peer review. It aimed to ascertain if peer review via weblogs could bring any improvement in the second language learners‟ writing proficiency. In the study, a total of 8 Generation Y undergraduate students from a private university volunteered, and they had different levels of proficiency as second language learners of English. This group of students first underwent intensive peer review training to prepare them to blog and to be a blogging buddy. The students were first paired randomly but remained as partners throughout the study. After they introduced themselves on their blogs, 3 other essays were posted. Their peers provided feedback, and the students were required to repost. All the posts were graded to track the students‟ progress. 2014-11 Thesis http://shdl.mmu.edu.my/6267/ http://library.mmu.edu.my/diglib/onlinedb/dig_lib.php masters Multimedia University Faculty of Creative Multimedia |
