Summary: | This thesis is about analysing the viability of using gait as a biometric in recognition of an individual where the individual is assumed to have siblings with face similarity, particularly twins. The motivation arises due to the fact that such siblings are sharing genetic similarities and therefore may have similar facial features. In a recognition system that works from a distance via video, difficulties may arise in recognising siblings only by face biometric due to their facial similarities. Gait is another potential human biometric to adopt and thus far, no research has been found on the gait of siblings. Therefore this thesis aims to find out whether these siblings share the same gait traits. |
