Summary:Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) is an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based radio access scheme. It divides the entire bandwidth into cluster of sub-carriers and provide flexibility in the bandwidth deployment. It is widely adopted in both the wired and wireless networks. Recently, the world has witnessed the rapid development in telecommunication industry. The increasing demand and trend changes in the mobile data usages and applications has become a major challenge to the limited available resources in the existing network to satisfy the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of all the mobile users. Scheduling algorithm plays an important role in the resource allocation, in order to fully utilize the full potential of the mobile network. A novel Adaptive Weighted Resource Allocation (AWRA) downlink scheduling algorithm is proposed for the OFDMA-based mobile networks to improve the network performance. AWRA also maintains a good balance between the throughput and fairness of the network. AWRA distributes the resources adaptively based on the QoS requirements. AWRA is divided into 3 main modules, i.e. queue management, adaptive weightage control and resource allocation. Multiclass traffics are differentiated and sorted accordingly in AWRA.
