Summary: | Cultural institutions are moving forward to digitise cultural heritage artefacts as a means of preservation. Such digitised artefacts are usually disseminated through websites to reach the global audience and have wider public accessibility. Little is known regarding the end-users’ experience when using cultural heritage (CH) websites. Issues such as poor user experience (UX) in existing CH websites, lack of user satisfaction evidence and difficulties in navigating website content on digital cultural heritage are reported in existing literature. The significance to address the users’ experience in CH websites is to ensure that the preservation initiatives meet its goal, which is to preserve artefacts for current and future generations effectively. In this research, user satisfaction was studied from the lens of UX by focusing on pragmatic and hedonic qualities. A quantitative research design was adapted and was conducted as the data collection and analysis procedure. Selected existing CH websites were used as the vehicle to answer the research questions. An online questionnaire was distributed and the data collected were then analysed using structural equation modelling. |
