Description
Summary:The use of information technology (IT) tools is omnipresent for the reason of its capability. Undoubtedly, IT capabilities (ITCs) facilitate learning Mathematics. However, there were lacking of IT capabilities such as IT skills, IT resources and confidence to apply IT tools to integrate learning Mathematics where students commonly learned in traditional learning method. The traditional way of learning Mathematics did not achieve good results because of uninteresting contents and boring instructors. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to propose a comprehensive framework, which incorporates crucial ITCs for Malaysian students to improve their Mathematics performance. Key ITCs and difficult topics of Mathematics were identified and followed by survey and analysis to determine the relationship between ITCs (cause) and Mathematics results (effect). Based on the results, a new Multimedia Probability and Statistics system (MMPASS) was developed for Probability and Statistics lessons such as concept of random variable, discrete random variables and probability distribution function. MMPASS combined impactful multimedia elements in learning contents that enable students to visualise the learning contents. During the process of using MMPASS, students are able to see, hear and visualise the lecture contents better.
